On June 27, 2019, the National Medical Security Bureau issued the "Notice of the National Medical Security Bureau on Printing and Distributing Guiding Opinions on Medical Security Standardization Work", with clear objectives: to establish a standardization work mechanism led by the National Medical Security Bureau, recognized by relevant departments and promoted by all localities in coordination, and to form a standardization system that is suitable for the reform and development of medical security. By 2020, on the basis of the construction of a unified national medical security information system, 15 information service coding standards, including disease diagnosis and surgical operations, will be gradually implemented.
